HHSC received funding for 69 new positions to assist with these investigations, specifically to address the backlog of open cases. All newly employed persons are in various stages of training with some already having completed their training.
The goal is to have all investigations for ‘pending intakes’ over 30 days completed by this fall. This may result in some providers receiving an increase in communications from PI.

Additional Note: Twogether Consulting has already heard from several providers that they are being bombarded with requests for documents pertaining to some open cases as old as 3 years, which has also been a bit overwhelming to go back and dig up documents that may have already been “thinned or purged” and put in storage somewhere else. In addition, I have heard complaints that since some of the cases are so old that it is hard to get accurate information when PI is interviewing persons who may have already forgotten these details of events that are this old, or witnesses are no longer present at the facility (employees, individuals, etc…) Please remember to voice some of these concerns with your provider associations so that they may try to intervene on your behalf.
