Twogether Consulting is pleased to share one of our newest resources for IDD providers, Dr. Amanda Frias, OT, Assistant Professor: Mayborn College of Health Sciences at the University of Mary Hardin- Baylor and owner of Ativo Therapy. Dr. Frias will be our presenter for this webinar and will be talking about the use of occupational therapy to help address increased independence and success in the home, community, and work setting, including supported employment, for individuals receiving IDD services. The focus for this session will be on the scope of occupational therapy as it relates to supported employment as well as home and community living skills. She will describe current success within Texas Workforce Commission programs. In addition, she will explore the possibility of utilizing OT services in IDD waiver programs like HCS and TxHmL, with your individuals’ Supported Employment, Employment Assistance, and coming soon Employment Rehabilitation services received through the waiver program. Dr. Amanda M Frias
Dr. Frias completed her BS in Psychology at the University of Mary Hardin Baylor in 2012. She then attended Texas Woman’s University where she completed her Masters in Occupational Therapy in 2015 and her Doctorate in Occupational Therapy in 2019 with an emphasis on driver rehabilitation.
Amanda has clinical experience working with individuals with mild to moderate acquired brain injuries in outpatient and community-based settings with emphasis in areas of neuromuscular re-education, vision, cognition, vocational, and driving rehabilitation. She is a certified brain injury specialist and a driver rehabilitation specialist with experience performing clinical and behind the wheel driving evaluations and training.
