Hurricane, Tornado & Flood Season is already upon us and surveyors are in full swing!  Providers will be expected to have their Emergency Evacuation & Preparedness Plans and/or Policies in place and they must be updated to reflect the current TAC changes.  With Administrative Penalties in place in many of these IDD programs, please be sure to update your policies and procedures and train appropriate staff on these changes at your facility, or these violations could be costly. This will help the provider avoid major health and safety violations and ICF tags that could result in a violation considered to be an “Immediate Threat” or “Immediate Jeopardy”.  Some of the discussion today is based on new recommendations from the state of Texas as well as the CDC and other resources. Currently, the ISS Program does not impose administrative penalties, but I believe they will be enforced as of September of 2024, unless otherwise notified by HHSC.
